Open Source Technology Tools for United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 Implementation
The Strategic Trade Research Institute (STRI) organized the event, "Open Source Technology Tools for United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 Implementation," on March 3, 2022. The event was sponsored by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) through voluntary contributions received from the Government of the Republic of Korea. The event featured an expert panel discussion and demonstration of open source tools and resources available to all United Nations Member States that can help stakeholders gather information, assess risks, make policy and authorization decisions, and take effective enforcement measures.
Opening remarks were given by Mr. Ismael Balla, representing the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA).
The event was moderated by Dr. Andrea Viski, Director, Strategic Trade Research Institute.
The panelists included Jason Arterburn, Program Director, State-Sponsored Threats, C4ADS; Richard T. Cupitt, Director, Partnerships in Proliferation Prevention Program, Stimson Center; and Peter Heine, Senior Advisor in Global Security Technology and Policy, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
